
Leola
“Babe” Schnorr, 100, of Tonkawa, Oklahoma passed
away Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Willow Haven
Nursing Home in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Leola was born
February 9, 1907 near Ceres, Oklahoma to John W. and
Viola D. (Rence) Siler.
Memorial
service celebrating her life will be at 11:00 a.m.
Monday, September 10, 2007 at the First Baptist
Church of Tonkawa with Rev. Richard Thomasson
officiating. Arrangements are under the direction
of Tonkawa Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
Leola’s
family moved to Tonkawa when she was two and she
attended Tonkawa public school, the University
Preparatory School in Tonkawa and Central State
Teachers College in Edmond.
She was
the oldest member of the First Baptist Church at the
time of her death. She was superintendent of the
primary and immediate departments in Sunday school
for many years.
Leola was
a fifty year member of the Eastern Star serving in
many stations throughout her life and was also a
member of the Beta Sigma Phi. She worked for the
Ford Garage in her early life before going to work
for the Tag Agency where she worked for some forty
years, eventually being appointed Tag Agent.
She
married Charles Henry Schnorr in June 6, 1926 making
their home in Tonkawa; he preceded her in death July
1987.
Leola
enjoyed working with flowers and in her garden but
her greatest love was quilting. She won an award at
the Worlds Fair in Chicago with one of her quilts.
She is
survived by her niece, Helen Marie Blakemore; great
nephews, Charles Conaghan, Roger Conaghan and David
Blakemore; and many other relatives and friends.
She is
preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her
parents, John and Viola; her brother, Ambrose Siler;
her sisters, Letha Conaghan and Cleo Golden; nephew,
Brian Conaghan and great nephew, Joseph Lee
Conaghan.
