
Shirley
Joann Wright, 74, of Tonkawa, Oklahoma passed away
November 25, 2008 in Willow Haven Nursing Home,
Tonkawa, OK. Shirley was born November 4, 1934 in
Shidler, Oklahoma to William Parley and Margaret E.
Francis (Brisbin) Scott.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday,
November 29, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints, Blackwell Oklahoma with Bro.
Terry Ricketts officiating. Interment will follow in
the Kaw City Cemetery, Kaw City, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tonkawa
Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
Shirley graduated from North High School in Wichita,
Kansas and moved to Tonkawa in 1973 from New
Mexico. She married William A. Wright III January
16, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas and he preceded her in
death April 25, 1991.
Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints in Blackwell, OK, she had been
a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader.
She enjoyed most sports, was an avid OU fan, enjoyed
reading and loved to cook. If you liked to eat you
came to the right house; she enjoyed being a wife
and mother more than anything, babysitting and
feeding grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Robert W. Wright of
Tonkawa, Oklahoma, her stepson Bill Wright and his
wife, Bonnie of Cedar Creek, Texas; her daughters,
Margaret Parrish and her husband, Paul, Suzanne Mayo
all of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; her brother, Herbert Scott
and his wife, Irene of Derby, Kansas; her sister,
Sandra Copeland of Pawnee, Oklahoma; seven
grandchildren, Lauren Donahue, Brandi Mayo, Kyle
Mayo, Katie Wright, Haley Parrish, Bill Wright V,
and Montana Wright; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her
parents, five brothers, one sister and two
grandsons, Michael Wright and Jared Hughes.
