Milo
K. Whitehead, 77, of Medford, Oklahoma passed away
March 22, 2009 at The Servant Living Center in
Medford, Oklahoma. Milo was born October 5, 1931 in
Enid, Oklahoma to Kenneth Howard and Myrtle Susan
(Maxey) Whitehead.
Milo grew up on the home place west of Lamont
attending school at Pleasant Ridge rural elementary
school and then graduated from Lamont High School in
1950. He played football and was in FFA receiving a
Master Farmers Degree in his senior year.
Milo married Billie Lou Cowen in the First Christian
Church of Lamont on February 14, 1951 and they
celebrated 58 years of marriage this Valentines Day.
He and Billie made their home on his parents’ old
home place and raised their three children there.
While Milo was a farmer all his life he did work for
Hagel Auction in Kansas City, Kansas for about 6
years in the late 60’s, he worked as a carpenter on
building the Johnson Grain Terminal in Enid,
Oklahoma and did custom haying. Milo’s love was
for farming and attending farm equipment auctions.
He enjoyed attending his grand children sporting
events but his greatest love was for his family.
Milo was a member of the First Christian Church
where he served as deacon and on the church board;
he was a member of the Lamont Lions, Blackwell Elks
Lodge and Enid Moose Lodge
There will be a family visitation Wednesday, March
25, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Lamont
from 5:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will
be Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the
First Christian Church, Lamont, Oklahoma with Rev.
Bobby Smith and Rev. Jeff McReynolds officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lamont Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tonkawa
Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Lou of the home;
his daughter, Maxie Kay Skaggs and her husband,
Lyndal of Lamont, Oklahoma; his sons, Brad Lynn
Whitehead and his wife, Jil, and Ross Evan Whitehead
and his wife, Sherri all of Lamont, Oklahoma; his
brother, Dale Whitehead, and his wife, Diane of
Kansas City, Missouri; his sisters, Betty Prilliman
and her husband, Joe and Sybil Webster and her
husband, Glenn all of Lamont, Oklahoma; six
grandsons, three granddaughters, four step grand
daughters, six great grand children; numerous nieces
and nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one
infant grandson.
