Margaret Katherine (Barns) Bucher was born February 23, 1921 in Marena, Oklahoma in a dug out home and went to be with the Lord and her soul mate on November 20, 2009.

Katherine was the fifth of seven children born to Forest H. and Margaret Leigh (Hedges) Barns, the family moved south of Tonkawa sometime after. She attended Cottage Hill country school until the eight grade, then she went to work on a farm in Lamont where she lived for the next 70 years until coming to live at Shawn Manor in Ponca City.

Katherine married C. Warren Bucher on November 14, 1947 in Medford, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1993.

Katherine owned and operated her own restaurant. She also worked for J.W. Café in Lamont most of her working career, she drove a school bus for the Lamont School and was a projectionist at the Rollier Theater in Lamont.

Katherine was a member of Rebekkuh Lodge and a past worthy matron; she joined the Christian Church in Lamont in April 1952. She liked to crocket, sew and do crafts but her greatest love was for her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Karen Wilcox and her husband, Rod of Enid, Oklahoma, Butch Bucher of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Ann Dick and her husband, Rob of Ponca City, Oklahoma; nineteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a sister; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Warren, her parents, four brothers, one sister and an infant daughter.

Funeral services will be Monday, November, 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tonkawa Funeral Home Chapel, Tonkawa, Oklahoma with Rev. Jeff McReynolds of the Lamont First Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Lamont Cemetery.   Arrangements are with the Tonkawa Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Gary Gregg, Terry Sheets, Sims Warrior, Danny Schneeberger, Rick Crane and Jeremy Creech. 

Memorial may be made to the Carter Hospice in care of Tonkawa Funeral Home, 400 E Grand Ave, Tonkawa, Oklahoma 74653.
