
June Chilson Mitchell, 85, formerly of Tonkawa,
Oklahoma peacefully went to be with our Lord on
Wednesday, September 12, 2007 in her daughters’ home
in Leon, Kansas. June was born June 11, 1922 in
Wamego, Kansas to Edgar and Cecilia (Lintz) Area.
A Celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Tuesday
September 18, 2007 in the Chapel of the Tonkawa
Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma with Chaplin Kathy
Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the
I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Arrangements
are under the direction of Tonkawa Funeral Home.
She married Truman Chilson on November 16, 1941 and
he preceded her in death in 1996 after celebrating
fifty five years of marriage. They raised one son
and three daughters and opened their home to many
foster children. She then married Loyd Mitchell
September 28, 2002 and he preceded her in death
September 8, 2007.
June was a
stay home military wife and mother, except for the
short time she worked at the Air Force Base Nursery
when in Alaska and Illinois. As a military wife for
twenty six years she moved all over the United
States and Alaska.
June was
active in the N.C.O. Wives Clubs, American Legion
Women’s Auxiliary holding numerous offices in each
club. She was very active in Tonkawa’s Senior
Citizen Center.
June
enjoyed meeting people and loved to play cards and
bingo. She has wintered in Texas for the past
thirty five years.
June is
survived by her son, John and his wife, Pam of
Oldsmar, Florida; her daughters, Judy Jakobsze and
her husband, Tony of Weslaco, Texas, Sandra Wittman
and her husband, Paul of Dunedin, Florida and Cathy
Young and her husband, Brad of Leon, Kansas; her
step sons, Danny Mitchell and his wife, Helen of
Blackwell, Oklahoma and Robert Mitchell of Tonkawa,
Oklahoma; her brother, Donald Area and his wife,
Marge of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; her sisters, Carol Geren
and her husband, Don and Patty Holder and her
husband, Shorty Coffman all of Manhattan, Kansas;
her brother-in-law, Junior Burns of Tonkawa,
Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; eleven great
grandchildren; many nieces and nephew along with
numerous wonderful friends.
June is
preceded in death by her parents; her spouses; her
brothers, Delbert and Galen Area; sisters, Bonnie
Burns and Frankie Lee Area.
