
James “Don” Hook, 66,
passed away January 8, 2009 at Ponca City Medical
Center. Don was born July 29, 1942 in Artesia, New
Mexico to L.V. and Vera (McNeil) Hook.
Don grew up in Hedley,
Texas graduating from Hedley High School.
He then served in the
U.S. Air Force as an Airplane Mechanic I during the
Vietnam War. He moved to Tonkawa in 1972, his life
work was as an over the road truck driver. He
retired from Glass Trucking in Newkirk in May of
2008.
Don enjoyed his work
and fishing but his greatest love was watching his
grandchildren play sports.
Funeral services will
be Monday, January 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the
First Baptist Church, Tonkawa, Oklahoma with Dr.
Richard Thomasson officiating. Interment will follow
in the Tonkawa I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Military
Honors. Arrangements are under the direction of
Tonkawa Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his
father L.V. Hook of Marshall, Texas; his son Jerry
Hook and his wife, Christi of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; his
daughters, Kim Pendergraft and her husband, Don of
Blackwell, Oklahoma and Becky Hook of Ponca City,
Oklahoma; his brothers, Aven and his wife, Anita
Hook of Marshall, Texas, Floyd Hook of Winslow,
Arizona, Virgil and his wife, Yvonne Hook of
Jackson, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Benjamin,
Bryan and Brady Hook, Courtney, Ashley and Brittney
Pendergraft; numerous nieces, nephews; and Stephen
Wu the exchange student that Jerry and Christi have
in their home that Don loved as a grandson.
He is preceded in
death by his mother, Vera Hook, January, 2003 and a
son, Brian Paul Hook in April 1974.

to Tonkawa Rec. Department or Blackwell Rec.

Grand Ave. Tonkawa, Oklahoma 74653.
