Herbert J. Brown, 64, of Tonkawa, OK,  passed away Thursday,  May 27, 2010 at his home. Herbert was born in Laverne, Oklahoma to La Rosa Burger.

Herbert lived in several different places in his growing up years, they were Caldwell and Drury, Kansas, Long Beach, California, and Puyallup, Washington going to school in Drury, Kansas and Long Beach, California.

Herbert was a retired laborer from Commercial building work and had been involved in helping at the Tonkawa Senior Citizen before his death. He was a member of the ROTC, First Baptist Church and the Eagles Club.

He is survived by his Aunt Arlene" May" Thomas of Tonkawa; his children, Victor Brown of Morton, Washington and Karen Barnhart of Tacoma, Washington; a sister, Glenda Sue Finch; his grandchildren, Ivory Brown, Amanda Caple, and Heather Brown; cousins, Ron Dixon of  Medford, Oklahoma, Jerry Dixon of Leon, Kansas, Cindy Dunn of Caldwell, Kansas and Russell Burger of Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by his mother and a sister Nancy Gaylene Demmitt.

There will be no service at this time.  Arrangements are under the direction of Tonkawa Funeral Home, Tonkawa, OK.
