Evangeline “Vangie” Spaid, 90, formerly of Tonkawa, was called home by the Lord early Friday morning, Nov. 14, 2008 in Burleson, Texas.  Vangie was born Feb. 6, 1918 in McPherson County, Kansas to Nels and Carrie (Aelmore) Bengtson.     

Funeral service will be held Sat., Nov. 22, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the Tonkawa Funeral Home Chapel, Tonkawa, OK with Rev. Mark Serviss officiating.  Interment will follow in the Tonkawa I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

She grew up in Kansas and Oklahoma-mostly Oklahoma attending school in Tonkawa and was a member of the First Christian Church. 

Vangie married Lester “Rusty” Spaid July 2, 1942 in Winfield, Kansas and he preceded her in death Jan 4, 1992 after fifty years of marriage. 

She loved flowers, growing them and arranging them. She was an avid doll collector and had dolls in every room of her house. She love to bake, go shopping, and treasured her friends keeping everything anyone gave her as a gift. But most of all she loved her family, spending time with them and taking care of them.

Vangie is survived by her daughter, Dianna Hutchinson and her husband, Dwaine of Burleson, Tx; son-in-law Tom Greer of Dewey, Ok; grandchildren Bryan Greer and his wife, Tina of Fort Gibson, Ok, Chad Greer and his wife, Tracie of Bartlesville, Ok, Nicole Hutchinson and Stuart Hutchinson of Burleson, Tx; great grandchildren Jake and Lauren Greer, Tanner Greer; a sister, Bernice Myers; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester “Rusty” Spaid and their daughter, Donna Greer; her parents; brothers, Carroll, Rudy and Chuck and a sister, Inez.
