Betty Lou Prilliman, 74, of Lamont, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Enid, Oklahoma. She was born April 6, 1935 in Pond Creek, Oklahoma to Kenneth and Myrtle (Maxey) Whitehead.

Betty attended the Pleasant Ridge District 77 rural elementary school til the 8th grade then she went to Lamont where she graduated in 1953, then spent two years at N.O.C. in Tonkawa getting an Associates degree. 

Betty was Lamont FFA Queen, a member of the Lamont High School band and the Order of Rainbow Girls in Lamont. She was a member of the Lamont Methodist Church and U.M.W. organization.    

Betty married Joseph “Joe” Prilliman April 4, 1953 in the Lamont Christian Church, celebrating 56 years of marriage. They moved to Long Beach, California in 1960 and she worked as a seamstress in the Stretch and Sew Fabric Shop for many years and was an avid quilter and seamstress. They moved back to Lamont in 1988 making it their retirement home.  She had taken up photography in her later years and has some beautiful pictures.

Betty is survived by her husband, Joe Prilliman of the home; her sons, Jeff D. Prilliman and his wife, Michelle of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Frank L. Prilliman of Lamont, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Kelli and Matthew Prilliman; a brother, Dale Whitehead and his wife, Diane of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Sybil Webster and her husband, Glenn of Lamont, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law Billie Lou Whitehead of Lamont, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Milo Whitehead.

Visitation will be at the Lamont United Methodist Church Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lamont United Methodist Church with Pastor Vera Walton of the Lamont United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Lamont Cemetery.   Arrangements are with the Tonkawa Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
