Anthony “Tony” A. Street, 67, long time resident of Tonkawa, Oklahoma passed away in Ponca City on Saturday, October 4, 2008. Anthony, son of Jesse and Naomi (Allen) Stree, was born on his grandfather John Allen Tonkawa Tribal allotment land, east of Tonkawa on March 3, 1941. 

Anthony attended school in El Paso, Texas; later he moved to Tonkawa where he graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1960 and attended NOC.

Anthony is an enrolled member of the Tonkawa Tribe and a descendent of Chief Big Elk of the Ponca Tribe. He severed as Vice-President of the Tonkawa Tribe in 1971-73.  He is a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Tonkawa

He was involved with the local Archaeological Society.

Anthony enlisted in the Army National Guard Reserve in 1963 with the Service Battery 1st Battalion 189th in the field of Artillery; he was Honorably Discharged after 30 years of service to his Country.  He worked a short time at Wetmore Pulverizer and Machinery Company in Tonkawa, then left to work at Conoco Oil Refinery in Ponca City, retiring in 2003 after twenty five years.

Anthony was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.  Watching his grandchildren play sports was his greatest enjoyment. He spent lots of time reading, camping, fishing and love to go for drives seeing the country. 

He is survived by his longtime companion, Cathy Street; his daughter, Dana Metcalfe and her husband, Russell; his son, Darrell Street and his wife, Sheryl; his sister, Virginia Combrink Swanson and her husband, Rodney all of Ponca City, Oklahoma; his brother, Willie J. Street, Sr. of Fort Oakland, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Christopher Metcalfe and Kayla Street; numerous other family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Propper.   

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. October 6, 2008 in the Tonkawa Tribal Gym with a funeral service to be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Tonkawa with Father Obwana Martin officiating.   Interment will be in the Tonkawa Tribal Cemetery; Anthony will be laid to rest with full Military Honors. A Traditional Indian Feast will be at noon.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Tonkawa Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Anthony E. Street, Willie Street, Jr., Eddie Street, Troy Combrink, Christopher Metcalfe and Gabriel Propper. Honorary pallbearers are Jess Chaney, Roy Neely, Justin DeNoya and Troy Hasenfratz.
