Thank You,
Our daddy passed away on January 12, 2011. My sister Peggy and I sat in the small
waiting room at Integris Blackwell Regional on that evening, looking at each other.
We both knew what the other was thinking and neither of us knew where to start.
All it took was one phone call and Mrs. Edward Blackwell from Tonkawa Funeral Home
came to the hospital. That was when the confusion stopped. He provided us with a
packet which contained numerous items, to include an information sheet, that we
were to fill out, detailing Daddy's life, family hobbies and so much information
that we would not have ever thought of. This information was used to write his obituary
and was also used for his service.
We visited the Tonkawa Funeral Home on the following morning with our younger sister
Connie to make necessary decisions. Ed and Carla made it so very easy for us to
make the arrangements for the final details of our Daddy's service. They set
up everything to include all fees to the people in the service, arrangements with
the First Methodist Church, news paper notices, insurance details, Social Security
details, and so much more. We provided them with pictures and with those they put
together a very nice video with music of our choice. Ed and Carla are incredible
to work with and were so relieved at the ease of it all.
They were also very prompt with their preparations, having everything ready for
viewing that same day. The rooms in the funeral home are decorated very nicely,
the lighting is soft and very calming and their displays for the flowers and plants
that arrived were done very professionally. We were told that we could bring anything
we wanted to display in the room with Dad.
The service was held and Ed delivered to us our "books". The books are
just beautiful and contained so much information about Daddy, his obituary, his
picture, his service arrangements and the people that helped, the guests and friends
at the visitation and the service, very nice pictures of the service and pictures
of the flowers and plants that came to the funeral home and to the church. Such
detail goes into these books so that nothing is missed. We were provided everything
for the final details, ie., thank you cards for friends and family, thank you cards
for the pallbearers and thank you cards for the minister and the people who provided
music and copy of the music and video at the service.
We felt a public acknowledgement of the work and expertise shown by Ed and Carla
Blackwell was absolutely necessary and something that we really wanted to share.
This is also a most heartfelt thank you to both of them for their professional work
and for the compassion shown to our family.
Thank you Ed and Carla Blackwell and the Tonkawa Funeral Home. ~Anita, Peggy
and Connie
