Wayne attended Elm Grove and Marland Schools, graduating from Marland High School, in 1944. He had decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and had entered into the occupation of farming the year before graduating.

He served for more than 15 years on the Marland school board and he very seldom turned away his community or friends on multitude of volunteer projects.
Wayne loved to dance and he and Cora attended one to two dances a week for many years. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends for more than six decades. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and would make things for them and enjoyed attending their functions. He was a caring and attentive husband, father, grandfather, and friend, always willing to dedicate his time and energy to the needs of friends and family.
